Three months of field recording, artistic research and new work on the Tihany peninsula above Lake Balaton.
MON-ART is an artistic residency based on the Tihany peninsula in Hungary, situated above Lake Balaton. The residency brings together artists working across different disciplines for intensive periods of research and production.
I have been selected for a three-month period from September to November 2026 — time dedicated to developing new work that emerges from sustained engagement with a specific place, its acoustic environment and its relationship to listening, memory and the natural world.
My focus during the residency will be field recording, sonic research and the development of new material that responds to the landscape and sonic character of Tihany. The work is experimental and open-ended — I am going to listen before deciding what I will make.
This residency represents an important expansion of my practice into questions I've been approaching for some time: what is the relationship between a place, its sound, and the person listening? What does sustained attention to a natural environment produce, artistically and perceptually?
